Cats are technically harder to generate than dogs, and coat pattern is why. A dog is often one or two blocks of colour in a predictable arrangement. A cat can be a tortoiseshell: an essentially random scramble of black and orange that is unique to that animal and looks wrong the moment it is regularised into a pattern.

The tabby M is the detail to check first. Almost every tabby carries an M-shaped marking on the forehead, and its exact break and thickness is one of the most recognisable things about a particular cat. Models routinely straighten it into a neat symmetrical shape, and owners spot it immediately even if they could not have described it beforehand.

Eyes are the other one. Cat eye colour ranges much further than dog eye colour (copper, gold, green, pale blue, odd-eyed) and it is frequently pulled toward a default green or amber. If your cat's eyes are unusual, use a photo where they are open and well lit, and check the result for that specifically.

For the styles themselves: bold, flat treatments like pop art suit high-contrast cats such as tuxedos and colourpoints, where the markings are already graphic. Subtle coats (a solid grey, a soft cream) do better in oil or watercolour, where the gradations are the point rather than an obstacle.
