About the video trimmer
Most online trimmers upload your file to a server, re-encode it at a lower bitrate, stamp a watermark and hand back a worse video than you started with. This one runs ffmpeg locally in the browser and offers the two ways of cutting that professionals use. Fast mode copies the video and audio streams without touching them: it is nearly instant, the quality is identical to the source, and the only catch is that the cut snaps to the nearest keyframe, which in a typical recording means the start may land up to a second or two earlier than the time you typed. Precise mode re-encodes the clip so the cut lands on the exact frame, at the cost of a slower export. Use fast when you are removing the dead air at the start of a screen recording; use precise when the cut has to be frame-accurate, like the end of a sentence. The trimmer reads the duration from your file, shows a preview so you can scrub to find the right moments, and lets you type times as seconds or as minutes:seconds. Nothing is uploaded, which is why it handles long recordings that a hosted tool would reject.

Fast mode first
Try the copy-based cut first. It is instant and lossless. Only switch to precise if the start lands visibly early because of a keyframe.
Find times in the preview
Scrub the preview to the frame you want and read the time under it, then paste it into the start or end field.
Trim before compressing or converting
A shorter clip compresses faster and smaller. If you are going to make a GIF or shrink the file, cut it down here first.
Long files are fine

Does trimming lower the quality?
Not in fast mode: the streams are copied byte for byte. Precise mode re-encodes at a high quality setting; the difference is not visible in normal use.
Why does my clip start slightly before the time I set?
Fast mode cuts at keyframes, which occur every 1-5 seconds in most files. Switch to precise mode for an exact cut.
Is there a file size limit?
The tool accepts files up to 500MB in the browser. Above that the browser itself runs out of memory. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no server limit.
What formats does it support?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and most others. The output keeps the same container as the input in fast mode, and is MP4 in precise mode.
Can I cut multiple segments?
One range per export. Trim each segment separately and join them in your editor.
