Convert JPG to PNG
Drop a JPG and download it as a PNG. Useful when you need a lossless file to edit further or to upload somewhere that requires PNG. Runs in your browser.
About the jpg to png
Converting JPG to PNG does not recover quality the JPG already lost, that detail is gone. But it is still the right move in a few cases: you are about to edit the image heavily and want a lossless working file that will not accumulate more JPEG artifacts with each save; a tool or upload form demands PNG; or you need to add transparency on top of the existing image. Note PNG files come out much larger than the source JPG because PNG is lossless. Renza converts locally with the Canvas API, no upload, no signup, no watermark.

Tips for best results
Things that meaningfully improve the output.
It will not undo JPEG artifacts
Any blur or blocking already baked into the JPG stays. PNG just stops further loss from here on.
Expect bigger files
A 400KB JPG can become a 3MB PNG. That is normal, PNG is lossless.
Good before editing
Convert to PNG before layering or masking in Photoshop so re-saves do not add artifacts.
Transparency
The JPG has no alpha, so output is fully opaque. Add transparency in an editor afterward.

Will this improve quality?
No. Detail lost when the JPG was created cannot be recovered. PNG only prevents further loss.
Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG is lossless, so it cannot match JPEG compression. Larger files are expected.
Does the file upload?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
When should I do this?
Before heavy editing, when a form requires PNG, or when you plan to add transparency.
Need the reverse?
